Oregon Public Universities

Oregon Public Universities (OPUs) are state schools offering undergraduate, bachelor degrees as well as master and doctoral degrees.


  • They are referred to as 4-year schools, although the average student now is taking around 5 ½ yrs. to graduate.
  • Students in Oregon have a real choice among public universities in terms of size, environment and programs.

Application Information and Tips

  • Admission for Oregon public universities are identical in terms of the core curriculum credits they require from high school graduates, and they all require either an SAT or ACT test scores. They do differ on other admissions requirements, as outlined in the Oregon Public Universities Requirements document.
  • GPA requirements do vary somewhat from school-to-school, as does the importance of high school course rigor in the decision to admit, and the relevance and use of test scores.
