Application Process
Over 100 high schools and community groups are supporting students throughout Oregon with the ASPIRE program. Oregon Mentors provides information on the importance of mentor relationships and assists volunteers with finding an ASPIRE school placement or, you may contact the school where you would like to volunteer directly. Ask for the ASPIRE Coordinator.
- Contact your local ASPIRE school to initiate the application process.
- Familiarize yourself with the tasks and responsibilities of ASPIRE volunteers by reviewing volunteer position descriptions.
- Satisfactorily complete a criminal background check - volunteers may not work one-on-one with students until this step is completed. ASPIRE schools may also conduct personal reference checks and interviews.
The application process may take a few weeks. During this time you may be able to provide essential support to the ASPIRE school by assisting in the their work area and working with other ASPIRE volunteers.
